12-9-08 Day 11
In the morning we hung out at the church building and played ping pong with the youth. Youth from Bolivia arrived at 1030am and we ate breakfast with them. We then went to get some keys copied. It was a little difficult because of language barriers but it was great because it ended up being a church member, Gustavo, that we got the keys copied from. In the afternoon we went to the river and it was actually quite cold. Nathan and I started doing a puzzle so we worked on that the rest of the evening.
12-10-08 Day 12
We are getting more brave! Today we went to the bank to exchange bigger bills into smaller ones. At 3pm we went with Elizabeth´s host papa (Humberto) to their chacra (farm) by ourselves. The farm is very big. They grow corn, cherries, peaches, walnuts, green beans, mint, basil, etc. Lots of produce. It´s a really beautiful place. He showed us around adn then we drank mate and talked for awhile. It was wonderful to learn some more spanish as he graciously pointed to things and said how to say each thing in spanish. Everyday living here is a spanish classroom experience for us. We are so thankful for all that we are able to understand and learn. Tonite we went to the north zone church building for thier prayer meeting. We walked there (20 min) and had a time of worship, Nathan gave his testimony while Delbert interpreted, and then Frieda talked about Jesus´death and resurrection frees us from the bondage of sins.
12-11-08 Day 13
This morning at 10am we had another SIMP meeting with Juan. We prayed, had a time of worship, and talked about ministerial professionalism and John 10. We could really sense the Holy Spirit´s presense with us. At noon we had lunch with Humberto, Monica, Maxi, Marian, and Elizabeth. We had papas, melanesa, gaseosa, and tomatoes. It was very kind of them to have us over, we even practiced our spanish with them. In the afternoon we took a siesta and in the evening we went to this store called La Ranchero. It´s a western store with many neat things. Nathan bought a sombrerro and I got a mate cup. We came home had supper, did some laundry, and studied scripture (John 10) together.
12-12-08 Day 14
Today we had spanish class with Delbert again at 10am. It was pouring down rain when we woke up and much to my dismay our clothes that were drying on the clothesline were soaking wet. Nathan had a good sense of humor about it and just said ¨Our dryer must be broken.¨ After our spanish class he took most of our clothes to Delbert and Frieda´s house to spin out and then the sun came out, so we hung them back on the clothesline to dry. I miss my washing machine at home.
